Community Outreach and Volunteer Program
This community outreach program is created to encourage and educate each participant on the importance of giving back to the community. In this program each participant will be given the opportunity to learn and gain hands on experience by volunteering their time at a chosen organization and/or community to assist and help those in need.
Support Group – “                ”
BEAUTY is a support group that provides a nonjudgmental atmosphere where DOV participants can come and openly share and express their feelings, talk about relationship problems, self-esteem, teen pregnancy, STD’s, abuse, family issues and much more. We understand the potential difficulties one encounters throughout life and we invite you to use our support group not only as a platform to discuss, share and address life issues but to also gain knowledge, learn coping techniques, gain education and awareness and to build a healthy support system for yourself.
Academic Assistance
This program is designed to ensure DOV participants are meeting their academic responsibilities. We will assist each DOV participant facing academic challenges by collaboratively working with the school staff and the parent by obtaining academic and behavioral records and having conversations with teachers, counselors, and other administrative staff. This will allow us to assess and tailor a successful academic improvement plan to meet the specific needs of each DOV participant.
This program is designed to provide consistent support, guidance and practical help by engaging participants in building a personal relationship with their mentor as well as in a group setting. The mentor will serve as a positive role model, friend and confidant to each participant. The mentor and mentee will work jointly together to set and accomplish goals in the areas of academics, identifying problems and finding solutions; building and developing healthy and independent relationships, etc.,
